Rym Smaï

I am a PhD student in mathematics at Avignon University (France) under the supervision of Professor Thierry Barbot . My research interest lie at the crossroads between Lorentzian geometry, geometric structures on manifolds and representation theory. My thesis focuses on conformally flat spacetimes and Anosov representations. My first result gives a connection between Anosov representations and conformally flat spacetimes with the surprising property of containing black holes (if you are curious, you can find my preprint here!). Currently, I am interested in describing conformally flat spacetimes containing complete lightlike geodesics. All my scientific activities are gathered here. I also share some interesting websites.

More about me…

When I am not doing maths, I am into creative arts especially music; I like playing piano, singing and writing. I enjoy sports including running, swimming and hiking with my friends. I also like reading books with a preference for detective novels and sociology books. The last books I read in these two categories are “Les chiens de Riga” by Henning Mankell and “Poutine, maître du jeu?” by Jacques Baud.
